A unique fact some traveler’s may not know is that there aren’t public schools on the island – we have a combination of private and government-aided schools. The government aided schools rely heavily on cash and supply donations in order to assist less fortunate families. Everything from pencils to back packs are appreciated! If you are interested in donating, feel free to contact the schools directly:
San Pedro Roman Catholic Primary School (you may hear this referred to as the RC school): Telephone: 226-2550.
Holy Cross Anglican School: http://holycrossbelize.org/about-us/contact-us/
New Horizon Seventh Day Adventist Day School: Telephone: 206-2552
WAYS TO HELP
The San Pedro Public Library was established in 1973. Through generous donations from the Rotary Club, the Library received an upgrade in 2022 which included repainting the inside and outside of the building, updating services and creating welcoming areas for reading, events, studying etc. While the Library offers reading materials for adults, young adults and children of all ages, they also focus on providing an atmosphere which encourages children to explore the world of books.
The Library welcomes cash donations, as well as donations of books which are in good shape.
Access their Facebook page for more information: https://www.facebook.com/sanpedrotownpubliclibrary/
Each month, various neighborhoods partner with local businesses and neighbors to lead clean up efforts to help keep our island beautiful. Check out the local papers and our Facebook page for information regarding these efforts.
Throughout the year, charities and local businesses sponsor various donation drives and fun, special events to help the community. From the Rotary sponsored Haunted House to Hope Haven’s Adopt a Bear Christmas present drive to Charity Galas, there are always options to assist others. Visit our or the local charity’s Facebook page for updates and more information.
General donations of cash or supplies are always appreciated especially at the San Pedro PolyClinic (https://www.facebook.com/sanpedropolyclinic/), the Food Bank and various libraries.
